The Joystick Website

Concept, Branding, Web Designer & Developer

Project Brief

Client: Web Design 2

Assignment Mission: Create a business from scratch including its branding, assets, and website

Task: Create a fully functional website using Figma

Project Goals

Create a cohesive brand and consistent/ user friendly fully functional website.

From Concept to Function

My Role was

  • to create a concept for a business
    • The business was a video game bar
  • execute that concept in a visual consistent brand
  • to create every asset and all the content for every page
  • fully design the website and develop it using Auto Layout and other various tools in Figma

Tools Applied

The problem

  • How do you represent a bar and show off retro video games
  • what if people think this is a place for kids

My Insight

  • appeal to the gamers in mind but be clear on what the place is about

My Solution

All graphics and assets are to feel like a video game, but show drinks to be clear it is a bar that has video game vibes

Concept

A way to celebrate video games in a bar to enjoy with other gamers

  • The branding of the website is to represent that classic look and feel of retro video games. The neon colors, the pixelated font, and even the graphics being a 16-bit art style.

Sketching Process

This project was mostly focused on the layout and functionality of the website. I decided to step it up with my assets. All graphics are created by me.

  • First I draw out what I wanted to create
  • Then I vectorize that artwork so it can be scaled
  • Next I pixelate it to match the style
  • Lastly I color it into finish the look

Design and Application

After creating all the assets and graphics I had to apply them to my brand. I created wireframes for each page and was able to plug in my colors, type, and content to create my final website.

The Result

A fully functional website that advertises “The Joystick” and provides information about the bar which also works on mobile, tablet, and desktop
